2017 : A record year

Emmanuèle PERRON,
Chair of the HAROPA - Port of Le Havre Supervisory Board

Vice-Chair of HAROPA,
Managing Director of HAROPA - Port of Le Havre

With a rise of almost 10% in traffic, a historic record of 2.9 million TEU and growth in its sales turnover, Le Havre is gaining market share and consolidating its position among the major European ports.

In an international environment more competitive than ever, innovation and investment are two major priorities around which our growth strategy must continue to develop in order to sustain our performance.

For that reason, in 2017, HAROPA - Port of Le Havre did not slow down its efforts with €34 million of public investments in a large number of areas such as infrastructure, digitization and environmental compliance. Companies also invested €117 million, renewing their confidence in the operational management of the Port. And the berthing of 360 vessels with more than 10,000 TEUs illustrates HAROPA - Port of Le Havre's ability to receive the world's largest container ships. As part of the development of river transport, the Port of Le Havre also finished its public consultation for the improvement of river access to Port 2000, respecting the natural and urban environment.

The Port of Le Havre is also continuing its policy of long-term innovative development. It is in this spirit that it has joined the Smart Port City initiative led by the Conurbation Community of Le Havre (CODAH) in conjunction with the University of Le Havre, the institutional and economic bodies, the companies in Le Havre and their representative associations as well as innovative operators. This project, selected during the 3rd call for expressions of interest in the future investments program, or PIA 3 TIGA, has mustered all the economic operators in and around Le Havre for the preparation of their application for the second phase. It reflects the close cooperation between the City and the SeaPort and the regional drive, further strengthened by the celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of the City and the Port.

In 2018, the Port will be presenting an ambitious investment program, which the Supervisory Board is expected to adopt during the year. As we did with Port 2000, the issue for us is to see further ahead and innovate to design the ports of the future.
